A big Congratulations to Jenny Bennett for an amazing 27 years with Beacon.
The Beacon team was a lot smaller when Jenny started at Beacon back in 1990, with just 4 people on board you were required to multitask and adapt quickly to new roles. Starting off in reception she has since mastered many positions within the company, including: Support, After-Hours Support, Site Installations, Major Rollouts, Account Management, through to her current position in Accounts and as the Support Manager.
When asked about Beacon in the 90’s, Jenny is taken back to Beacon’s predecessor ServStat. This was a time when computer screens were monochrome in either orange or green, hard drives were 40MB, printers were dot matrix and you only printed in letter quality if it was important.
A lot has changed in Beacon in the past 27 years, from the move to Windows from DOS, to developing new interfaces and integrations, as well as growing staff numbers five fold to help support the quickly growing customer base.
At 27 years, you would be hard-pressed to find a longer-standing tenure at any company. Jenny attributes this to working with a close-knit team with a multitude of different skills as well as being closely involved with developing close relationships with our customer base. Of course, a tenure of 27 years wouldn’t work without great leadership, and Allan and Lesley both provide a working environment full of loads of hard work, but plenty of rewards.
